On January 8, 2026, during the Lion & Sun Revolution, Sajjad was shot in the forehead with live ammunition by security forces in his hometown. He died at the scene of the shooting. Although members of the public intervened to prevent security forces from taking him, he was eventually transported to a hospital and then to a morgue. Sajjad’s body was buried in Alvand under heavy security pressure. He is remembered by his community as a talented athlete whose future was stolen shortly after he returned home from his service.
